Some of my scrapbooking layouts...

OK. So Mary asked about seeing some of my digital scrapbooking layouts, so I figured I'd post some of my favorites here. These are all 100% digital, meaning I do everything on the computer using Photoshop Elements. When you post something like this online, you're supposed to give credit to whomever it is that designed the different things you used in your layout (i.e., the background papers, the seperate elements, etc.). If you want to see complete credits for the stuff, almost all of these layouts can be found here in my online gallery at my very, very favorite designer's site (Jen Wilson Designs). Under each layout, complete credits are listed for each layout.

Most of these were also done for challenges. Every week, there's a new challenge (or two), where you're given certain "rules" as to what your layout is supposed to be about, how may pictures it has, what sorts of things you need to use on it, etc.

So anyway, here are examples of one of the main reasons I don't blog as much anymore. Because when I sit down at the computer, I'd really rather be doing what you see below than blogging. Sorry gang. ;) LOL!

Thank you Chelle! But trust me, those photos are no better than the average person takes. It's all about uploading them to your computer and then zooming, cropping, recoloring, retouching, etc. LOL! I'm like the bastards that airbrush the models in magazines to make them look pretty. LOL! Almost ANY photo can be made to look fantastic if you know what you're doing on the computer. I do tend to probably take more photos than the average person just so I have more to pick from to scrap, and I try to take a lot of photos where the person isn't looking right AT the camera (because I think those make the best pics), but other than that, it's ALLLLL about Photoshop Elements. LOL!

Holy SHIT! You have some serious skills girl!! Are they digital pages?? I might have to lift a few. *blush* I seriously need to get a digital camera.

Thanks Emma! Yes, they are all completely, 100% digital. The photos are digital and so is all of the scrapping stuff... staples, tape, paper, elements, stamps, strings, stitches, shadows, etc. I LOVE scrapping this way. No adhesives, no scissors, no crap that I have to drag out and put away everytime I want to scrap... NO mess. WOOHOO! LOL! And you can do soooo much more with the photos themselves. And the best part is that if you don't like something, you just click Undo. Sweet!

And you really don't NEED a digital camera if you have a scanner. You could just scan your photos in and take it from there (although the quality may not be as good depending on your scanner).

I love how you can make it look like the pics are actually floating on the page!! Do you print any of them off, or are they all stored digitally as well?

Emma: The photos that look "bent" aren't my work. Someone else made those and then you can just drop your own photos into them. I could do it if I had to, but I didn't in this case. LOL! And yes, I print them out 8x8" and slide them into a top-loading album and/or I upload my favorites into Shutterfly and get 8x8" photobooks printed.

Kelly: Thank you very much, but I'm not sure if I want to win. LOL! I mean, of course I'd be flattered and I wouldn't turn it down or anything, but it's also kind of intimidating to me. LOL! I know some of the girls REALLY want to win and some did this challenge JUST to try to win. I just did it because I had already done all the others and I would've hated to bail out on the last one. LOL!

Allison, these are SUPER GREAT!! I have to learn to DO this! How did you find it, and get into it?

Two years ago I had everyone buy me scrapbooking crap for Christmas, but I have never ever sat down and used any of it. The mess with the kids...Yeah. Fun. But this WOULD be fun, and no mess!

Your girls are so lovely. And the words made me weepy. A liiiitle weepy. ;) So sweet.

Amber,

I used to paper scrap too. That was fine when Grace was an infant and couldn't like, move. LOL! And it was even OK when Hannah was born and I was home on maternity leave and Grace still went to daycare part-time. But now? HELL no! I just stopped doing it because dragging ALL of that stuff out at 9:00 at night after the girls were sleeping only to have to put it all away before the morning just lost its appeal. LOL!

I'll either post some links tomorrow or email you to how you can get started with digital scrapping. What's cool is that if you just want to give it a whirl at first, you can really grab a TON of great "freebies" (which is free crap from digital scrapbooking designers) and not spend a dime. I'm at the point now where I DO buy stuff, but I need to stop because I actually have WAY more than I'll ever need. But even when you buy it, it's still cheaper than actual paper scrapbooking was AND I can use everything over and over again in different layouts.

And I can TOTALLY see you getting into this to a point where you never leave your computer. You strike me as pretty artistic in general and some women out there create CRAZY beautiful stuff using digital scrapbooking. And I'm talking true artwork. I mean, I like my own well enough and all, but I can assure you that some stuff out there is absolutely breathtaking and phenomenal. Links tomorrow. ;)

So as long as you have Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop Elements, or Photoshop, you're golden. I'll talk about it more tomorrow, but I really need to go to bed right now. LOL!
